Who we are

The Scally Cap Directory (“we”, “the site”) is an independent editorial directory of flat-cap and scally-cap makers, published at scallycaps.info. This page explains what happens to information when you visit.

What we collect directly

We do not run user accounts, we do not have a login, and we do not operate a newsletter or a contact form. There is nothing on this site that asks you to submit personal information.

If you choose to email us, we receive whatever you put in that email — your address, your name if you sign it, and the contents of your message. We use it only to reply to you and, where relevant, to correct or update an entry in the directory.

Cookies and advertising

This site is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense, which is a third-party advertising service operated by Google. Google and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.

We do not control those cookies and we do not receive the personal data they collect. You can review and change how Google personalises advertising to you at Google My Ad Center, and you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also block or delete cookies in your own browser settings; the site will continue to work without them.

Analytics and server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which typically include the requested page, the time of the request, a referring page and browser details. We use Google Search Console to see which search queries bring people here; Search Console reports aggregate data and does not identify individual visitors to us.

Links to other websites

Every maker listed here links out to that maker’s own website. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy and their cookies. We are not responsible for how third-party sites handle your data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data an organisation holds about you, to have it corrected, or to have it erased. Because we hold nothing beyond email correspondence you have chosen to send us, a request in practice means asking us to delete an email thread. Write to us and we will do it.

Children

This site is a general-audience publication about headwear and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we add a service that changes what is collected — an analytics tool, a newsletter, a comments system — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
